BEFORE WE SHIP
- We’ll follow up within 24 hours of receiving your order if we need to change the delivery/pickup date.
- By default, we ship with No Signature Required — let us know if you’d like signature required due to potential parcel theft.
- Frozen within hours of cooling: our bread and baked goods are baked and frozen within hours of cooling to lock in freshness.
HOW WILL MY ORDER ARRIVE?
- Bread and baked goods (pretzels, buns, sourdoughs, etc.) are at low risk for bacterial growth, so they ship via refrigerated courier. Some thawing in transit is normal and doesn’t affect food safety the way it would for perishable items — we recommend refrigerating or re-freezing on arrival to maintain freshness.
- Frozen pizzas ship at maintained frozen temperature the whole way through. This is a more expensive shipping method, which is why there’s a minimum order quantity plus extra packaging — reusable cooler bags, thermal liners, and/or ice packs. Keep these, or hand them back to our driver on your next order (just give us a heads-up you’re returning the bag).
- Picking up at a partner location? Your bread and baked goods may show some thawing by pickup time — that’s expected and doesn’t affect food safety. Pizzas are held frozen at our pickup partners until you collect them. We hold orders for 2 hours from your pickup notification; if you need more time, let us know so we can hold it longer or arrange an alternative.
TRACKING
- We’ll text a real-time tracking link with an estimated arrival window to the mobile number on your order.
- For multi-story buildings like office towers and condos, our courier will leave the order with concierge unless you provide us with specific instructions.
MY BREAD/BAKED GOODS ARRIVED AT ROOM TEMPERATURE – IS THAT NORMAL?
Yes. Unlike our frozen pizzas, bread and baked goods are baked and frozen at our facility, then ship via refrigerated courier or held briefly at pickup locations — by the time you receive them, they may have partially or fully thawed to room temperature. That’s expected, not a sign of mishandling.
Bread is low-risk for bacterial growth regardless of temperature, so arriving thawed doesn’t raise any food safety concern the way it would for a dairy or meat product. Pizza is handled differently (frozen throughout transit and pickup) because of the cheese and/or meat toppings, which do carry that risk.
If your bread arrives at room temperature, treat it as ready to eat, refrigerate, or freeze — whichever fits your timeline.
CARING FOR YOUR ORDER ONCE IT ARRIVES
- Freeze anything you won’t eat within 2 days — even with the best intentions, most people don’t get through a loaf that fast.
- We don’t use preservatives or additives to artificially extend shelf life, so this matters more than it would with a grocery-store loaf.
- Everything freezes well and holds a frozen best-before of 3 months.
- Bread can be re-frozen. If you’re not finishing it right away, we’d suggest pre-slicing and freezing the extra, and keeping what you plan to eat that day at room temperature — in a bread box if you have one. Skip the fridge: it’s a high-moisture environment that actually speeds up mold growth.
- Once thawed, check the room-temperature best-before on the web product page for the best flavour window.
- One trade-off of skipping preservatives: our products dry out faster at room temperature than commercial bread does. The steps above (freeze what you won’t eat soon, room-temp only what you will) are the best way around that.
- Enjoy, and share with a friend!
SECOND LIFE PACKAGING
We try to reuse materials wherever we can. Our 4-packs, for example, use plastic bags from a misprinted bread order — rather than send them to disposal, we’ve put them to work here instead. The bread tags are sanitized and reused too, generously collected through the St. Lawrence Market Remarket and Centre for Social Innovation REUSE initiatives.
MY ORDER ARRIVED DAMAGED OR MISHANDLED
If anything looks off — crushed, or otherwise mishandled in transit — contact us with a photo and your order number. We’ll sort out a replacement or refund. This is separate from our standard Return Policy below, which covers manufacturing defects.
WHY AM I PAYING TAX ON SOME ITEMS AND NOT OTHERS?
Baked goods and frozen pizza are HST-exempt per the CRA. Our checkout applies HST only to taxable items and services (like shipping).
